A rare vintage copy of a U.S. Navy Airship drawing by Edward H. Wiswesser. Built in 1932, the Akron was the third Zeppelin commissioned by the United States Navy. This vintage copy was most likely made in the late 30s or early 40s using the diazo printing method. Diazonium salt and Azo Dye were combined onto paper and exposed under ultra-violet lights to produce the faded violet-blue we see in the image. This image was previously mounted and has some wrinkling, but in good condition for its considerable age. Framed into a tall ebony wood frame with tan lines and shatter-resistant acrylic.
